Drushyam Movie Review
Producer: D. Suresh Babu,Rajkumar Sethupathi
Rambabu (Venkatesh) is a middle class family guy who is happy with what he has and leads a peaceful life. He is cable TV operator in Rajavaram . He has a wife named Jyothi (Meena) and has two children Anju(Kritika) and Anu (Baby Ester). One day a womanizer who harass Anju with hidden cam photos and puts the family in trouble. He is accidentally killed by Jyoti and her daughter when he comes to blackmail them. And that becomes a big issue as the dead person was a son of Inspector General of Police. Naturally, entire police department involves in the case . Geetha (Nadiya) the police officer and her husband Prabhakar (Naresh) also gets involved. Considering the situation, how Rambabu raise to the occasion and solves the problem , and how he saves his family fighting against the police department. Is the rest of the story.
The acting performances in this film are uniformly good, with every character rooted to earth. Venkatesh grows in stature moment by moment. Takes the suffering of Rambabu upon himself with such a resilience that his life depends on it. When compare him to Mohanlal’s performance in the original, he is very close enough.Meena as middle class housewife was very natural . Her chemistry with Venky has once again worked out well. The two girls, who did the daughter roles are pretty good . Nadiya as police officer helping rambabu looked slim and beautiful. Naresh, Sameer, Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao are good in their roles. Everybody has done the justice to their roles.
Senior cameraman S. Gopal Reddy’s visuals are very good.Editing by Marthand K. Venkatesh should have been more crisp as First half is little bit slow.Music Composition by sharath is pretty average , none of the songs clicked well. Screenplay of the movie, especially in the second half is simply good. With all the unexpected twists and turns in the story, audience would just sit till the end in excitement. Director Sri Priya, handled the subject quite cleverly.
Making a remake film always look so simple but it is not an ordinary job, as the director should keep hero’s image, and local nativity etc and will be forced to make some changes to the script than the original. But actress turned director Sripriya, director of Drishyam has not made any changes to the script at all, which is a very good thing and is being appreciated by everyone for her guts.Watch it for its fresh feel in the subject and Venky’s extraordinary performance. Screenplay of the movie thrills you for sure.
