SP MLA SON’S RAZE HOUSE AT GUN POINT:
Lucknow: Three sons of a Samajwadi Party legislator from Rae Bareli were accused of demolishing the under-construction house of a doctor in the Bachrawan Assembly segment.
The SP legislator, Ram Lal Akela, represents the segment in the UP Assembly. According to the victim, Dr Naseer Hussain, the incident took place on Saturday when the legislator’s sons allegedly pulled out guns at the construction site in the village.
They were allegedly accompanied by an armed group of 30 supporters who destroyed the building. They were equipped with earth-moving equipment. A local police inspector was allegedly part of the mob.
One of the MLA’s sons, Vikrant Akela, claimed that he owned the plot of land on which the house was being built. He is also the district president of the youth wing of the Samajwadi Party.
“I have the authentic agreement of this land. I have done nothing wrong,” he said. Dr Hussain told reporters that the local police had refused to register a case after which he contacted senior officers at the district level.
The legislator’s sons had asked him to pay Rs 20 lakh and when he refused, they had demolished the house. No arrests have been made in the case, and top police officials refused to comment on the incident to the media.
